Home of the two-year degree, the University of Buckingham, based in the South East of England, is ranked 1st for Teaching Excellence in the UK. Buckingham is proudly independent and not-for-profit and offers courses in Allied Health, Business, Computing, Education, Humanities, Law, Medicine, Psychology and Security and Intelligence. The University is one of the few universities in the UK that offers September and January start dates for almost all University of Buckingham courses.
Based in Buckingham on a riverside campus, the University is only 20 minutes from Milton Keynes Central Station and a short drive from Bicester, Aylesbury, Banbury and Northampton. There is free parking on-site and its location means it is within easy reach of London and Oxford.
Award-winning small class tutorials ensure every student is known by name and supported throughout their studies, including by dedicated personal tutors. As pioneers of the two-year degree, Buckingham offers a condensed version of the traditional three-year degree, meaning you can gain a full honours degree and complete your studies a whole year earlier. Alternatively, you can complete both your undergraduate and master’s degrees in just three years: saving you time and money.
The University also launched the UK’s first private Medical School, which recently secured General Medical Council (GMC) accreditation. The GMC commended Buckingham for ‘excellent professional, academic and pastoral support that extends throughout the University and clinical learning environments’.
The University of Buckingham's acceptance rate is 18% and key University of Buckingham rankings include being in the top 10 in England for Teaching Quality and Graduate Prospects (Times University Guide). A wide variety of University of Buckingham scholarships are available for eligible international students. The University’s dedication to teaching quality and student life has resulted in it being rated highly by its students and in national surveys. This includes being ranked 1st for Student Satisfaction for four years running.
The University of Buckingham offers a unique ‘1+2’ option (a foundation programme and undergraduate degree with honours in just three years). This is made possible due to Buckingham’s innovative term structure but does not lead to an increased workload for its students on a day-to-day basis. Foundation pathways are available in Business, Law, Computing, Economics, Accounting and Finance and Journalism.
The University of Buckingham provides several courses and classes to help students adjust to life in England. In addition, an English Language Centre is available for further tuition in academic, business and written English. With more than half of its students hailing from overseas, Buckingham has a proven track record of meeting the requirements of its international students.
With a wide variety of rooms available on beautiful campuses, you can relax whilst remaining close to all of the action – and, best of all, accommodation is guaranteed to first-year students*.
The University owns all of its accommodations, and you will either be based on campus (where many rooms are located) or nearby. All of the accommodation is within a 15-20 walk from the town centre. Choose from ensuite or shared bathrooms, mixed and single-gender options, riverside locations and designated quiet blocks. Rooms are fully furnished and centrally heated, with Wi-Fi and access to cooking facilities. Most have a small refrigerator as well. Disabled rooms and facilities are available.
Located five minutes away from campus, Crewe accommodation offers 790 rooms in the newly built Booth Hall. Offering comfortable, self-catering accommodation, with vibrant communal spaces and modern facilities (including high-speed Wi-Fi), you are sure to find a relaxing home at this residence.
The University of Buckingham location is in the heart of South-East England, a market town 50 miles from London and 20 miles from Oxford. It is close to a number of major international airports and local transport links are strong. It has grown rapidly over the past 40 years.
Cities such as Oxford and Milton Keynes are a 30-minute drive away. Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix, Stowe Landscape Gardens, Bicester Village Shopping Outlet and Towcester Racecourse are all within a short drive of Buckingham.
